Mykyta here, co-founder of AIWriteBook. The three most requested things from this page and our public roadmap are all live now. Here is how each works.

1. Bring your own OpenRouter key (Tier 3 and 4)

The most asked question on this page, and the most upvoted roadmap item. We went with OpenRouter because one key gets you basically every model that exists, including new ones the day they appear.

• Left sidebar, "Your Own API Keys". Paste your key from openrouter.ai/settings/keys. We verify it live before saving, store it encrypted, and you can replace or remove it anytime.

• Chapters, outlines, covers, and chapter images run on your key.

• Any OpenRouter model can write your chapters: on the chapter step, open the model picker, expand "All other models", and search. We test the model against your key before you commit to it.

• A BYOK action costs a flat 1 credit instead of the full price (a chapter is normally 15+).

• If your key fails mid-generation (out of funds, rate limited), we fall back to our keys and charge the normal price rather than losing your chapter. Custom models are never silently swapped - generation stops and tells you.

• You can also add an ElevenLabs key for audio, which matters for the next one.

2. Audiobook Studio (Tier 2 and up)

Turns a book already on the platform into a finished audiobook. Your chapter text is the script - nothing to upload.

• Open /app/tool/audiobook, pick a book, choose from 25 voices (American, British, Australian, Swedish accents), each with a preview.

• Multi-voice: the Studio detects your characters and who speaks each line, proposes a cast, and you adjust it. Up to 10 voices per book, with optional automatic emotion tags.

• It renders chapter by chapter. If one paragraph comes out wrong, you re-record just that paragraph.

• Export: retail (-19 LUFS) or streaming (-14 LUFS) mastering, 128/192/256 kbps, as merged MP3 with chapter markers, ZIP of per-chapter MP3s, or M4B with embedded chapters and cover art. Everything runs on ElevenLabs v3.

• Pricing: 1 credit per 12.5 characters, x1.2 for multi-voice. 75% launch discount until September 4, so about 1 credit per 50 characters today. No length cap. With an ElevenLabs key connected, a render batch costs 1 credit.

• Voices are English accents; non-English books narrate fine with them.

3. Your library, organized (every tier, free)

The top roadmap item by vote weight, asked right here too: series folders, categories, a way out of the single flat book list. The dashboard now has:

• Series: assign a book to a named series from the "..." menu on its card. It shows as one collapsible group in reading order with a number badge per book.

• Tags: create any tags via the "+" chip in the toolbar, assign as many per book as you want, filter with one click on the chips above the grid.

• Archive: hides old drafts without deleting them; a toggle brings them back. Archive is reversible, deletion is not - archive instead of deleting.

• Search by title, sort by newest, oldest, title, or progress.

• We ran a one-time pass that grouped books that obviously belong to the same series. Fixing a wrong guess is two clicks on the card menu.

Series here is visual organization; shared characters and locations across a series is its own roadmap item, open for votes now.

I'm Mykyta, co-founder of AIWriteBook.

Before anything else, I'm an author. I've published two books. The first I wrote the long, lonely way, before AI could hold a paragraph together. The second came during the AI era. So I know both sides of this: I know what it costs to finish a book alone, and I know exactly how it feels to ask AI for help and get back... slop. Same phrases, flat dialogue, a voice that belongs to nobody. If you've ever tried a "type an idea, get a book in one click" tool and closed the tab feeling a bit insulted, I've been there, and you're not wrong.

And the draft was never really the problem anyway. Even when AI hands you 40,000 words, you still have to make them sound like you, and after that you're alone again with the formatting, the cover, the KDP metadata, the audiobook, reaching actual readers. The AI tool is long gone by then.

I'm also an engineer, and so is Artem, my co-founder. In summer 2025 we built an AI writing pipeline for ourselves and used it to produce books for NanoReads, our own reading platform. Real books, in front of real readers (more than 103,000 ATM), where slop gets ignored in about four seconds. That forced us to solve the hard part: keeping the author's voice through outline, chapters, and edits, not just generating words. At some point we realized the pipeline was writing better books than anything we could find on the market. A few writer friends asked to use it. They stayed. So at the end of 2025 we opened it to everyone.

Today a bit more than 1,300 authors and small publishers pay for AIWriteBook, more than 50,000 books have been written with it, and we hold a 4.6 on Trustpilot. One reviewer put the common thread better than I could: "it actually learns my specific style. Once you teach it your 'voice,' it feels like a genuine writing partner." Another, who has published over 250 books, called it the best AI writing software they've used. That's who we build for: people who can tell AI slop from their own writing.

What makes AIWriteBook different:
