How to create a million dollar business this weekend (Hint: Chihuahuas)

Neville Medhora
Neville Medhora

December 6, 2012

Most people get paralyzed trying to start a small biz because they "Can't find an idea". Let the fat Sumos of AppSumo show you how....AND we're gonna follow our own advice and build a biz with it (and show you how step-by-step).

My stupid friend asked me:
"Hey you Big Fat Sumo....whatchya doing this weekend...EATING?? hahaha..."

IMMEDIATELY I did two things:
1.) Slapped him in the mouth.

2.) Replied, "I'm starting a business from scratch. By the end of this weekend I'll have a ghetto business launched and collecting data."

This Fat Sumo may not know what a "Diet" is, but I sure as hell know how to start businesses....and I can make a business in ONE weekend.

What's crazy is most people can't even make one business in a LIFETIME.

They're always "gonna" start something.
They're always "developing something big"
They're always "trying to find the right idea"

Lo and behold....they NEVER get anything going.

Why is that??

I'll tell you why:
-They dunno how to find "the right idea" and eventually get stuck.
-They dunno how to eliminate crappy (and unprofitable) ideas.
-They dunno how to validate their ideas with a real-life test before investing all their time and money.

Let's cut the damn excuses Young Sumo-ling.

I wanna show you how to find your idea, and start a ghetto test-trial of your business before you waste all your time on some crap idea.

This is a kourse that's close to our cholesterol-filled Sumo-hearts.
(and it's called a Kourse because it's DIFFERENT from all the typical stuff you normally see about finding your idea).

"But Summoooo.....HOW is it different? you annoyingly ask me....
For starters, we don't just talk about this.
We actually BUILD a business with you from scratch in this kourse.

There was an article on Tim Ferriss' blog called
"How To Create A Million-Dollar Business This Weekend (Examples: AppSumo, Mint, Chihuahuas)."

When that epic article was written....it was almost a "joke" to show how to research Chihuahua dogs. But the research showed that market was viable. We're gonna prove we can make that data work by literally showing you how we built a business around Chihuahuas in one weekend.

I can already hear you starting to whine:
"OK OK OK Fat Sumo.....I DO want to start making businesses....and I read posts all over the internet about how to do it....but it's still confusing to me."

I hear you Young Sumo-ling. You're correct....sometimes just a 2-page post (no matter how good) is no replacement for seeing the whole process done ON A REAL LIFE EXAMPLE right in front of your eyes.

Hmmm....well it juusstt soooo happpeeennss this Fat Sumo has literally the EXACT answer to your problem.

This Video Action Kourse is stuffed into three sections:
SECTION 1.) How to find your idea and make sure there's a market (before you start charging down a profit-less road).

SECTION 2.) How to test that idea and start building. We actually START by building and validating a CHIHUAHUA BUSINESS! From scratch. At the end the kourse, this Sumo eats all the Chihuahuas for lunch.

SECTION 3.) Killing the "Wantrepreneur Syndrome" so many people have. We do this through AppSumo-Exclusive interviews with lots of people who are "sooo successful now" ....but weren't always like that (and how you can change your mindset too).

Malcolm Gladwell has something he calls the 10,000-Hour Rule. It goes like this:

"Studies suggest the key to success in any field has nothing to do with talent....It's simply practice. 10,000 hours of it. 20 hours a week for 10 years."

What this means is that the MORE you do "stupid small side projects" .....the BETTER you get.

In this Kourse we interview (specifically for this Kourse) successful people who talk about how in the beginning they just did "stupid small businesses" when they first started.
Noah Kagan (#30 at Facebook, Founder of Gambit)
Dan Graham of BuildASign.com
Mickey Ristroph of Mutual Mobile

So it comes down to this.....

You're staring this decision in the face (kinda like that "Blue pill vs. Red pill" scene in The Matrix).

You can take the path of "I'll always DREAM of making a business but I'll most likely never even start....."

----OR-----

You can watch how this big fat Sumo identifies businesses to start, validates the ideas and EXECUTES them violently.

Grab my fat Sumo-hand and follow along as we test ideas and build ghetto validation tests right in front of your eyes.

Sincerely,
The Chief Sumo

Worth every penny!!!

Just bought the business blueprint a couple of days ago...it's off the hook good. I have been fucking around since 07 and this is the best product I have come across. Some of the stuff is noob stuff but the interviews and gorilla stuff are mint.

In 07 I heard about validating and setting up landing and sales pages even if you don't have a way to deliver the product as a way to test but never did anything... Been a total wantrapanure, but for the last 3 months I have started taking action and shit is coming together.

LOVE IT! I watched it today and came up with good ideas immediately that I'll test tomorrow locally, without spending a dime or preparing any website at all!

Guys for real, BUY IT! It will help you keep going anyway, if you're a wantrepreneur or just don't know how to start! GO BUY IT!

Great stuff! I really liked it as well! By the way - if you are an entrpreneur or a small business owner you can use adsurf.net to grow your business, as they offer very cheap advertisng, marketing, design or traffic generation deals that will help you without a doubt! Loved the videos!

Almost a Suicide! My Inner Wussy had a great smash in the ass!

This BluePrint staff helped me a lot to actually start testing ideas. I thought a lot before buying but now I wish I'd do it earlier!

There are 2 types of Wanterpreneurs: the I-never-have-an-idea and the I-have-too-many idea. For both type Appsumo BP is a MUST!

It helped me a lot like first I check if ANYONE is looking for my product. I don't like chihuahuas (or whatever it is) but I wanted to sell dogfood here in the far east. Took like an hour to figure out that it's a huge time-wasting idea.

I built an ecommerce site on another idea because there is space in the market. There is interest - but NOONE wanted to actually buy.

The first tests takes like... an HOUR!? and if something is interesting it takes another 1-2 days to validate EASILY.

I sleep much deeper since I know that ALL my ideas can be tested terribly easily - and one will work for sure!

Thanks Sumos, you helped a Real Yogi not just Fatass Sumos!

Some awesome stuff here! When I saw Neville appear in a sumo suit I feared the worst but he and Noah Kagan delivered an impressive amount entrepeneurial and motivational value... This "Kourse" is a ruthless call to action for all those seeking to be in business. Nev and Noah destroyed all my excuses for being a "wantrepeneur"... I also really liked how practical this Kourse is, they actually show you how to test and build a business from your laptop in an insanely short time.
The only reason I'm not giving it the full five tacos is because this is a video only Kourse and I just happen to have an ebook fetish... (don't like taking notes, who does?)

Sorry Neville...
These are great ideas but the videos are basically a rehash of Noah Kagan's article on 4 hour work week. I was really expecting a more in-depth guide or a uh... "blueprint".

Everyone else...
The videos are informative (and entertaining) but if you're on a budget, save yourself a few bucks and just read the article below.

Well duh....you can read the article for a general outline.

Buy the product if you wanna see it implemented several times over in real time....and watch exactly what to do.

I can also tell you how to lose weight:
-Eat less calories than you expend.
-Workout more

THERE.

.....but having just a "general outline" doesn't mean any action will happen after that.

You need to watch how someone actually has done it. What they were eating for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Problems they encountered along the way.....etc etc.

I stand 100% behind this course. It will teach you an entirely new way of starting a business....without doing the typical "wantrepreneur" route of spending a lot of time and money BEFORE knowing if anyone wants your damn product!

Thanks for posting this....I thought as much.

First 3 parts are great.
4th part is called next steps and one would think he'd find some kind of checklist or plan, but instead is just a few bonus videos and a non-working comments and questions form.

Thanks Will!

You'll be using this EVERY TIME you analyze a business idea!

Nev is a hottie!

Even in a Sumo suit.

But that's not the best reason to buy the course. Better is that he simplifies how to explore business ideas. Super dead simple. You don't need the clutter and bloat from more expensive courses, unless that's your thing. Start here.

He gets to the point and makes you laugh. If you are laughing, you aren't sleeping, which means you will remember what he says. Maybe you will even do what he says and save yourself a ton of money and time.

He updates the course too, looking after all his baby sumos.

I got a lot out of the course. Inspired to do more. Ready, set...

Cool Idea validation guide with a good step by step process to get your Biz going.

Seriously, I wasn't going to leave a review but some bad reviews are making me crazy. This is a better in-depth process of what Noah Kagen talked about on the 4-hour-blog and it is totally worth it. In fact, I have validated 2 ideas so far but even more important I HAVE CROSSED OUT MANY IDEAS THAT DIDN'T WORK SAVING ME TONS OF TIME AND MONEY.

That alone is amazing.

I've now started a process where I try and validate an idea once a month using this product as a guide. Thanks Nev great stuff.

P.S - If your offended by the language then why are you on appsumo?

Well thanks for coming to the rescue :-)

Whenever I get bad feedback on something I make (that I truly believe is good), I often view the person as:
50% has a gripe.
50% is insane.

However some people are just totally insane....and I ignore that feedback because it means nothing to me.

As for YOU, glad you've crossed off ideas by validating. It's VERY good to know what you're working on has no legs before investing tons of time/money/emotion into it.

Good job :-)

I endured what felt like eternity watching these guys goof around in the idiotic sumo suits, waiting for some bit of information worth the price of admission. It never came. Very amateurish and coarse. Refund requested.

We go through and validate businesses in front of your eyes.....this is "bad" information to you?

Lemme guess....you haven't started a business?

Just what I was looking for

I'm almost 60 years young, one of those "Go daddy dummies" that you talk about in your video :). I've wanted to have an Internet biz for years and tried other courses in the past, some very expensive ones. Always got "stuck" somewhere and whenever I tried to get help I'd get a canned email from one of their hired help. If I asked them to clarify their email, they'd send the exact same canned email I had already gotten 2 days before. Never did get past the "idea" stage.

For the price, the Business blueprint is way better than any course I've bought before, I actually understand it and amazingly enough I can relate to you kids! (Yeah, to me you are kids! :) ) Not crazy about the sumo suit but hey whatever floats your boat!
Keep up the good work!

Great start for me - I've had many ideas but few actual attmepts trying them out. Didn't have a plan/know what to do. Now I do - I LOVE working on my ideas! Trying hard to be a Sumo, thank you Fat Sumo!

I haven't gone through all of it yet, but I can tell you its awesome! Just with the FREE tools (yes you heard me right) they mention here that you can use to help you setup I think I've already gotten my money's worth. That's instant ROI baby!

Video 1 is not missing. And if you find a little bit of language highly offensive, then this isn't for you :-)

Sorry, but I found it a bit lacking in value. More sizzle than steak. the final video clip on analytic research was helpful but nothing too insightful. A bit disappointing.

Amazingly useful (and with no boredom necessary)

Considering there's tons of stuff (apparently) on the same subject out there for free I had no intention to spend money to read more. But when I got that e-mail I got too curious to find out how'd they start a business about Chihuahuas (?!) in one weekend that I went on and buy it.

People talking about starting a business and stuff always try to look sooooo professional and serious (then bored me to death within one or two minutes); so first thing that amazed me was the guy was actually speaking with that ridiculous costume and with like a everyday language (which was actually quite funny).

Then it turns out that the things he and the other guys in the other videos say are also really really really...did I say really?....useful, practical, straight to the point and for the most part can work fine anywhere (also here in Italy where I am).
Great!

Took my muse business validation from $100 - $1000 each (four hour work week readers know what I'm talking about) to $69 once.
