....Those little Google Docs.  They're soOoo cute!

You can share a love poem with a Google Document...
You can share an Excel-like spreadsheet to plan a little girl's birthday party...

Wonderful.

But that's like using a made-for-mud military Hummer to drive to your manicure appointment!

You're missing out on 98% of the capabilities of the machine.  This is what Tom Critchlow is here for.

Normally we "kidnap" people to extract their secret knowledge, but not Tom Critchlow of Distilled.net.

He BUST DOWN THE DOOR to the AppSumo HQ and DEMANDED all Sumo-lings building startups, websites or apps know the true power of Google Docs.

Appppparently Tom doesn't use Google Docs like 99% of people....he uses it as a full fledged website-information-scraper that plugs into API's and yanks information off sites (but it's so easy my fat-sumo fingers copied his method in 10 seconds).

Then he uses this info to power his web apps...BEFORE he launches a product!  DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS!?!?!

This means you can use Google docs to make the "Lean Startups" concept of building a "Minimal Viable Product".  So you can quickly build out a web app and test it before you have it fully developed!

Yea...so this method could save you two years of your life and a lot of money.

You don't need a programmer to build you a slick web app. Tom gives you a real-life example of how he built a concept called FYspotify (watch 1st video to see it) which is constantly updated and powered by a Google Docs scraper he built in 10 minutes!

...and he shows YOU how to do it step-by-freakin-step on this video!

The basic idea behind this product very much appealed to me. However, it didn't really deliver. It is a video of a conference call in which one guy explains to the other how to use Google docs for certain tasks. This is actually pretty smart. However, I couldn't get the examples to work. I'm not really a programmer but I do get logic and I'm able to type. And even if I could get stuff to work, I'm told that "this isn't robust so you'll need to program the idea in python or ruby for it to be more reliable". The included pdf is just a transcript of the interview, not very helpful and neither are the included links. So this product didn't work for me but then again it may for others... I did get my money back within a few hours so there's really no risk. (thanks sumos!)

Great content - I can't get it to work.

This was a really great purchase and turned me on to new ways of thinking using Google Docs. But I can't get the importXML function to work. I'd be interested in an updated guide or a more detailed course.

I am a google docs lover. I am familiar with many spreadsheet functions. Yet, I had never heard, seen or been introduced to to the "import" functions. Certainly, initially, I never saw the value of the "import" functions. Now I do. My mind is racing a million miles a minute with the possibilities. Thanks. Great video set. If anything, I had to watch several sections over again because I was also unfamiliar with XPath and had to learn a little about it to get through the tutorial. Thanks again.
