OMG OMG OMG I'm so excited :-)

Sorry for fawning like a 12-year-old Justin Bieber fan, but I have to openly admit that I LOVE DEREK SIVERS.

I've been reading his blog for years, watched him speak at TED, I'm subscribed to his newsletter...and today we've got him dishing out gems of information to all the young AppSumo-lings.

See, Derek lives the kind of life I wanna live. He's a guy that pursued his dreams in music, and wouldn't have it any other way. He also started a business based on his true passion (music)...and it turns out he was pretty damn good at it because...

He started his company, CD Baby, with only $500 and no investors. 10 years later it was sold for $22,000,000!

So he truly embodies the "Follow your passion and money will follow" ideal we all want (I sure as hell want that...)

Not only did he make a lot of money...he then immediately gave most of it away to help other musicians. Talk about truly believing in what you do!

So now Derek is set for life financially, and spends his time making other companies to even further help musicians. Cool place in life to be eh?

So did Derek just "get lucky" with his business? Not really.

He's learned things along the way that helped him succeed...and in this video course for AppSumo-lings ONLY, he dishes the secrets that brought him that success, including:

  • What the hell are you doing with your life...and WHY ?
  • An exercise to identify your real goals
  • Tricks to ensure that everyday you're moving closer to your goals
  • How to start a revolution
  • How to know when to STOP working on a sucky idea
  • How to "incrementally" start executing your idea (a problem a lot of entrepreneur-wannabes have).
  • The most successful thing Derek did at CD Baby
  • A CD Baby case study of successes (and ugly failures)

Since we love all Sumo-lings and want you ALL to thrive in your personal and bid-naz lives...we're bringing you this Derek Sivers video for FREE TODAY ONLY.

This means you should download it RIGHT NOW before all that work sneaks up on you!

P.S. He's also got a free PDF of damn good advice for any entrepreneur or musician at http://sivers.org/pdf

P.P.S. He's also accessible. Seriously! Try it. Email him. Say hi. I dare you! http://sivers.org/contact

I really loved this! Derek is so down to earth. He made me think every step of the way. He's the perfect antidote to over-thinking and over-complicating business. My take away was it's the little thoughtful things that you do that creates a lasting relationship with your customers.

Trailblazers Make for Good Information

Derek Sivers is a guy that you can relate to! He is talking to you, pretty much conversation style, about the things he learned while more or less falling into success.

In his introduction he poses the question "why should you listen to me?" I loved and he humbly says it was dumb luck that he was successful but the truth comes out towards the end. Ideas are worth nothing without execution.

Derek didn't wait until he had the perfect plan to start executing his ideas, he started with version 0.1.

This is free, you can't go wrong.

Derek Sivers cuts through all the usual crap with this video series. He gets to the heart of what drives us and what will best align with our inner purpose. Inspiring stuff.

Alternative (and sensible) perspective!

Derek is extremely engaging and inspiring in this series and makes heaps of sense. I would recommend that anyone give up 40 mins or so to watch this series. If you don't, you won't understand that "changes need pizza"...

Great Business Philosophy!

I loved the videos. Good reminders about what is important, especially since I work on systems, remembering that the reason I automate and expedite things is so that people have more time to interact with each other, leading to the great examples like the squid story.

short and to the point

This class reinforced everything the AppSumo guys have been preaching all along, just start and do something. It's better to start and do "ghetto" or to do something small, than it is to do nothing at all except for sitting there dreaming about doing big. Big things come from small beginnings.

CDBaby story

Outstanding - & great to find it on App Sumo. Made a point of watching this before I started the course "How to make your first dollar" - it gives it all a great context to start from.

& BTW... in the event I am seen on a video following this one... I shaved my head BEFORE I saw Derek's (& my mustache ain't stuck on!).

Inspiring Set of Videos

In this set of videos, Derek Sivers talk about:
1. Himself as an introduction. Why is he here talking and why you are listening.
2. Finding out reasons for the stuffs you are doing.
3. Understanding and accepting that nobody knows the future.
4. The real meaning of "revolution".
5. Quitting on bad ideas.
6. Incremental improvement aka Start NOW.
7. Idea x Execution.
8. Most successful things that CD Baby Did.

Personally, I enjoyed every single one of the videos. Each video's length is on average about 6 minutes - so you can actually finish the whole video within an hour or so. And it was a really enjoyable one hour for me.
The reason why I found it enjoyable is that, throughout the whole video, Derek Sivers shares his experience humbly and you get to learn a lot from it. For example, when he shared about how he was in a circus for ten years before finally starting CD Baby, it felt comforting to me to know that I really need to keep trying and doing different things. Sometimes, it can feel a lot like running around headless, not knowing where I am headed. So to me, hearing about this experience was really an inspiring moment.

If you're looking to learn the in-depth of how to make a million from your business, these videos may not exactly be helpful. For example, in the video "Idea vs. Execution" Derek Sivers doesn't exactly teach you how to generate good ideas and then execute amazingly.
He does however, share an important concept on how idea is just a multiplier by itself. They're worth nothing without the execution.

So if you're looking to hear from someone who is willing to share his experience humbly and be inspired, these videos are exactly for you.

Perfect Motivation, Great Insights

I grabbed this free video via Ferriss' 4H blog, certainly glad I did!

The reason why I found Derek's videos so insightful - and probably helpful to those who are trying to emulate 4HWW success is that Derek covers a few small but important steps for building a business - defining what you really want, nobody knows the future, humanizing your business etc. etc. ... watch the videos! Plus he delivers it in a pretty laid back way - not preaching but talking like it's sitting in your room and you're having a casual conversation.

Gave it 5 tacos cause it helped me refocus my business and life intentions. Thanks!

Still Smiling!

I serendipitously found Derik Sivers while web surfing to find photos for a site to describe how I serve the world. I LOVE the lessons he shares and the simplistic way he teaches. A real, down to each person, who figured "it" out early on and shares with us so we can live our passionate lives.

Great simple advice.

Derek insights are so apparently simple that seem just common sense. Still, if you look around you will see how many business are not following them.

Very good and inspiring. Simple, stright to the point...
The right mind set. I guess that people who gave low score/review expect something complicated, like politician style of language, which includes lots of fancy terms and words, attach an MBA, Master degree and a PhD to your name kind of stuff.
