GREAT DEAL

Good customer service and rep was very helpful! I had several general questions I needed answered before I approached my boss with this offer that seemed to good to be true!
Well, so far so good and I meet with her next week! I don't see how she could think about saying NO?

Misleading and waste of money

For a logo design, which I need, I would have to spend a minimum of $228 after all the fee's and reward.

Waste of Money

I think this is a complete waste of money.
I wrote a comment on it as well.

Why spend over $200 just to get into a system to be able to ask folks to bid on your project ?

I can do this all day long (and do) on other projects.

$200+ for a logo when other offerings are under $50 that are just as good?

This is a waste

Total BS

Completely misleading, since the site still demands at least $200 as a prize regardless of this "discount". Then you get a bunch of extra fees piled on top so really you're paying around $240. I don't recommend this at all.

Edit: I appreciate the fast response to my review, and would like to clarify my complaint. My frustration did not arise from the final price point as much as from the lack of clarity in seeing where I saved money. That being said, the project I opened up on this site is definitely bringing back a good ROI in my opinion. No idea whether this site is better than 99designs since I haven't used them yet, but the crowdsourcing concept is definitely a good one.

The deal makes sense. READ PEOPLE!

So, the deal itself makes sense and I'm actually going to use it. That said, about the only thing these guys could feasibly do is offer more promotion for your project, which is precisely what this does and they give you back 41 bucks.

What did people expect? That CrowdSPRING was going to subsidize 60% of your project!!? *sigh... Moving on...

The scale of the deal I don't feel is anything amazing, but it is worthwhile. How? I had a designer who just isn't available for a project we negotiated. I'd be paying him about $1500. If I go with a small site package, I'll probably spend around 1k to 1200. I save some money. Not much, but some.

It's money that was going to be spent anyway, but in this instance I get a lot more choice for my dollar. That means a lot. Even if I only get two designers bidding and showing me their work, it's still a great deal and I only have to pay one of them and I get source files. Booyah!

Pay nine dollars to go to a website to see a price list of what is charge for each item.
What was the nine bucks for?
Want a refund and want to forget about using Appsumo for putting such a crap offer together.

Read the details. You're not getting what you think you are

I'll admit, I was one of the dummies that didn't read the details or click over and actually look at crowdspring projects or prices. The cheapest item is a logo ($269), so the 'savings' is misleading. You're paying for a discount that is basically already available to new customers. The 'featured' bonus (which is what makes up most of the so-called value on this deal) is meaningless.

Overall, for me, this was worthless. Only $9 and it's my own fault for not reading the details.

As far as comparing their designers to fiverr... I'm sure you're getting more for your money with crowdspring, but it isn't really all that great of a price (I'm a professional designer). I work with lots of clients who get cheapie logos from fiverr designers... nearly all of them only get the JPG file at a size for web use only, as opposed to getting vector files from designers at crowdspring. Particularly if you get a logo with any dimension to it, you're gonna need the vector art. I make good money converting the cheapie logos to vector. Gonna have to pay for it sooner or later.

A Total Fake Out - Not Worth The Money

I was very excited when I saw the deal. So excited I bought 3 of them.

But when I got to the page I found out that a logo design is exorbitantly high and what I'd bought was simply a "featured listing" I felt quite jipped.

Don't buy this unless you were already planning on running a contest at full price.

Over the last 2 years, I have commissioned logos for a bunch of projects. For my own personal projects, 2 of the logos are my absolute favorites out of the bunch. They came with vector files, met my criteria for dual motif logos, and met my color scheme requirements, and both gave me black and white as well as color options, as well as the option for 3 revisions, of which only 2 were necessary.

One logo cost me $270, and the other cost me $5 dollars.

I don't know that websites like crowdspring "erode the credibility of designers as professionals" as much as that designers had better express a unique value proposition that differentiates from competitors in the wider world that the internet now exposes.

As for this deal, I think it may be worth it depending on who you are and what project you have in mind for it.

Sumo - have you been drinking the SAKI? There are so many places to get logos for well under $50 that are AWESOME - why would I buy this and then still need to pay over $200 ?

Lately AppSumo is really stinking... your competition is getting the better of you day in and day out.

Come on already - You CAN do better !

Hey sumo-lings! I wanted to jump in and answer a few of the questions about price. Aizaz Khaja had it right (Chief Sumo would be proud of you!) - you're buying, for $9, a $41 discount off a project PLUS the $99 advanced promotion. Pretty cool deal - and the best deal we've ever offered. But time is short...

A logo project, for example, starts at $269 (including all fees). You can (and many customers do) offer a higher award, but you also can post the project for the minimum. Many customers buy advanced promotion to get more designers to participate and to have more choice.

So, a logo project with advanced promotion would typically be $368. With this deal from AppSumo, you would get the advanced promotion for free ($99 value) and you ALSO would get $41 off the price of the logo project. So...

$269 minus $41 for a total of $228 (that's what you'll pay for the project, including fees). AND you get the $99 advanced promotion too. So, after paying $9 for this deal, your project costs $228 PLUS $9 = $237.

And if you have any questions at all about the pricing or need help posting, just click "contact us" in the top menu of any page on the crowdSPRING site - or call our toll free number (posted in the top right of every page) and our team will be happy to help you.

Best,

This a crazy confusing deal... following up on what others are saying... i searched for a logo design

Logo design only. Economy projects start at $269 including fees....
so 41 dollars off this give mes 228 for a logo... that is a bad deal on any website.

and this notion of Promotion to more designers for $99... that is a joke. Promotion is for them to take care of, not me.

Appsumo... What do you call a deal that advertises a great deal, brings me in, makes me read about the company in question, but then makes me feel it was a really bad deal... A BAD FISH TACO... this one gets 4 bad fish tacos.

Sites like crowdspring, 99designs, and their ilk are awful for designers. They erode our credibility as professionals, and undermine our ability to make a living off of our skills, which many of us have spent considerable time and money acquiring. I'm offended that appsumo frequently promotes their "services".

as best as i figure, they have going rates for all projects. i.e. $384 for a book(length not specified)

this deal is $9 , it gives you $50 off coupon, plus it "features" your project on their home page, a $99 normal cost, that, on average will double your amount of "bids" or people who do preliminary work on your project to see if you like them.

so, if i wanted someone to ghostwrite me a book, and I used this service, i would pay appsumo $9, i would get $50 off the minimum cost of $384( and on their scale, would give me a "minimum" effort" a reward of $1469 would give me a "magnificent" effort), the project fees are a rate, looks like 57.60, or 15%. Plus a flat listing fee of $39.

then you can select their advanced promo package for free, a $99 value. so the total cost i see for me to get a book ghostwritten at minimum effort on this site is $480.60 - $50 + $9 = $439.6.

If you use this service, or like these kind of projects, this seems like a great deal, but if not, not sure this is enough to make me want to go out and try it, especially at a going rate of $440 for a book. not a bad price, but at minimum effort, not sure if i'd be happy with my results.

If you need a job done professionally, and you have a business to support this kind of investment, by all means, good deal, if not, well not so much.

or if you have $1000, and a book outline that you've been thinking about for the last 10 years, might not be a bad outlet.

Hope this helps, i was confused too and decided to figure out exactly what this was.

Regards

Jordan
