Hey, web dev and design Sumo-lings, do you hate working long hours for someone who doesn’t appreciate you? Doesn’t it suck to bust your ass for someone less talented and less deserving than you, only to make them more money and make them seem more successful?

Are you tired of getting stuck with lame projects where you’re expected to deliver the universe and are barely given the resources to putter into orbit?

Well pack up your desk, trade your pleated slacks for pajama pants, and bid a long-overdue later, dude to your goober boss…

And you know what that means, right?

You’re the boss. You decide what to work on, when to work on it, and how much you get paid for it. Wanna roll out of bed at noon and start your day? Do it. Wanna hunker down at an all-night coffee shop at 2:00 in the morning and power through your wireframes? That’s all you.

Like many great things, it’s a double-edged sword. You know that sucky goober of a boss from earlier? As much as they made your work life miserable, they were your meal ticket—they guaranteed a steady workflow, made sure you got paid, handled your benefits for you, and a hundred other things you don’t miss till you’ve gotta do it yourself.

If you can make freelancing or starting your own agency work for you, that’s awesome, and this Sumo applauds you for it. But chances are, it’s something you’ve been DREAMING of doing, and there’s a bunch of reasons you haven’t taken the leap yet.

You don’t know how to attract qualified clients.

You don’t know how to market yourself.

You don’t know how much to charge for your services.

You don’t know how to take action if you don’t get paid.

It’s a lot to try to figure out after you cut off your steady stream of 9-to-5 income. Luckily for you, Sumo-ling, you don’t have to.

‘Cause I’ve got a little how-to for you. A roadmap to help you plan out and succeed in your foray into freelancing. Introducing…

Kick Start Your Web Dev Business

It’s a bundle of eBooks, document templates, and video courses that give you the best tips, tricks, techniques, and advice from pros who’ve taken the freelance jump and been very, very successful at it. You’ll benefit from their years of experience and insights into what’s worked and what hasn’t, so you can jumpstart your business while skipping a lot of the guesswork and trial-and-error.

There’s so much stuff in this bundle that’s been developed and curated by expert designers, giving you EVERYTHING you need to get your web business off the ground. Buckle in, Sumo-ling—here’s a peek at just some of what you’ll get:

The Web Design Business Kit, 3rd Edition, Epack—a 390-page digital book that covers the ins and outs of running your new small business, from planning and positioning to executing and expanding. This juicy tome covers essential topics like:

  • What to consider before starting your business
  • How to develop your business’s unique advantage
  • How to win the all-important first client
  • What to charge for your services
  • How to market your business or service
  • How to implement new processes and build relationships
  • Which tools and software to use to run your business, and some of the harsh realities you’ll encounter
  • How to keep clients and projects coming back for more
  • How to hire and manage a growing team

40+ Digital Documents and Templates—a downloadable collection of ready-to-use documents, templates, and contracts, giving you a head start on the administrative side of your business. Things like:

  • Business Plan Templates
  • Balance Sheets
  • Cash Flow Forecasts
  • Profit and Loss Sheets
  • Media Kits
  • The Pitch
  • Employee Letters and Agreements
  • Legal Documents
  • …and many more (people have said that these documents alone are more than worth the price of the entire bundle).

Build a Successful Web Design Business—a video course from web design veteran Paul Boag, who shares his best advice, tips, and hints from more than 10 years in the biz. These videos cover everything from positioning your business to delivering on a project, covering things like:

  • When it’s time to hire more staff or get an office
  • How to pitch like a pro and land dream projects
  • Developing ongoing relationships to land repeat business
  • The importance of balancing home and work life

That’s more than enough to keep you busy and put you ahead of the freelancing curve and on your way to success. But this Sumo didn’t build a reputation on just doing more than enough. No—‘round here, things’ve gotta get RIDICULOUS.

When you grab this bundle now, you’ll also get a few bonus goodies, like:

3 FREE Months of Smartsheet, a feature-packed, collaborative online project management app (usually a $32 value)…

FREE Credit for design work with 99designs (usually a $20 value)…

A FREE 1-month membership to Learnable, where you can read more than 20 of SitePoint’s books online, AND access hundreds of their web development videos, courses, and tutorials (usually a $17 value)…

A 20% DISCOUNT on a 1-year subscription to EchoSign, making it easy to electronically sign documents and track client contracts.

Ok...now this bundle’s ridiculous.

And in true Sumo fashion, you’re gonna get it for a ridiculous price, too. ‘Cause for a short, short time, you can get ALL this for the embarrassingly low price of…

JUST $49!

With everything you learn from the tools and resources in this bundle, you’ll be able to land a single project that pays for everything ten times over. So stop just dreaming about being your own boss. Grab the Kick Start Your Web Dev Business bundle now and make it happen.

Bought the first version years ago; never really used it, but has some solid templates

In high school I was ramping up to become a career consultant, plotting my course to creating a world renowned design firm. I was an avid SitePoint forum contributor and figured the Web Design Business Kit would be just the tool I needed as a young designer. It was exactly what I needed to start a consulting business—it also helped me realize I didn't want to be a lifetime consultant and instead get involved in the startup industry.

The kit was pretty thorough and had templates for every stage of dealing with a client: contracts, non-disclosure agreements, invoices, etc. It also had suggestions on how to behave and arrange meetings (IIRC, there's a suggestion on what to drive to increase perceived brand value as well) and other more "high-level" concepts that need to be considered when creating a consulting business.
